1. Gilles De Rais
One of the most powerful men in France, Gilles de Rais was born to a noble family in 1405. He was the first serial killer in recorded history. He was also a leader in the French army and a companion-in-arms of Joan of Arc. He raped, tortured and murdered countless children. He confessed to killing more children than he could recall. He killed up to 600 children over a 7 year period. When questioned, he said that he had lost count. The victims ranged in age from six to eighteen and included both sexes. He lured children, mainly young boys who were blond haired and blue eyed (as he had been as a child), to his residences, and raped, tortured and mutilated them, often ejaculating, perhaps via masturbation, over the dying victim. This is a man who made history in brutality. The most prolific serial killer in world history, Christman Genipperteinga was a 16th century German bandit, serial killer and (alleged) black magician, alleged to have murdered 964 people over a thirteen year period in his cave-complex in western Germany from 1568-1581. This includes 6 of his newborn babies, birthed from a sex slave he held captive 7 years, before she convinced him to let her go to town where she betrayed him by dropping peas for the town’s men to follow and capture him.
Accused of being the devil himself, and given many mystical descriptions, he preyed on German and French traveling merchants, thieves, and children. The number of his victims as 964 is a very credible number because he kept a journal that documented each murder he performed. Was noted as saying that he would have been satisfied if he’d reached 1,000 victims. He was executed on 17th June 1581 or, more accurately the execution started on 17th June. He had been condemned to The Breaking Wheel, as normal for aggravated murder in that era and took nine days to die.
